What Are They Making?
We’re passionate about making art that focuses on folklore, the environment, and social justice. We’re both inspired by visual artists like Marc Chagall and James Ensor and films like The Adventures of Baron Munchhausen, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Coraline. We’ve both spent time at ensemble theaters in New England and are inclined to mention that this collective has grown out of our experiences in those places–Riley at The Bread and Puppet Theater in Glover, VT and Jane at Double Edge Theatre in Ashfield, MA.
Serfs of Soil
A fairy story about the wheel that we humans promote the turning of, how we produce until our world becomes unlivable, and how we repeat that process time and time again. Two performers singing, dancing, and untangling the world as we know it–and it's imminent end.
In The Belly Of The Mother
A wonder tale blending ancient pagan Celtic and traditional Russian folklore. Our story centers around a woman, Brigid, and her encounters with Baba Yaga. Two performers puppeteering, cracking eggs, and singing backed by a horn section playing original Klezmer music.
When and Where?
THANK YOU FOR COMING!
Serfs of soil
12:30PM - 1PM
June 1st, 2019
We premiered our first piece Serfs of Soil at the 2019 Cambridge Arts River Festival. Performing at the River Festival has jumpstarted a conversation between us and our collective community. It was a joy to perform alongside artists within our community and share some sunlight with a wonderful audience. And what a sing-along too.
“On June 1, 2019, Cambridge Arts will welcome tens of thousands of festival goers to the heart of Cambridge for an exuberant celebration of the arts. The festival will feature staged and roving performances, hands-on art-making and more than a hundred artists and food vendors with work for sale. The Cambridge Arts River Festival is FREE and open to all!”
